Clinical study
Streamcheck wasn't just built — it was clinically studied by urologists at German university hospitals, evaluated against scientific criteria and published in the specialist journal “Die Urologie”. The results show how precise at-home urological self-measurement can be.

Why it matters
An at-home measuring device is only as good as the reliability of its readings. It isn't enough for a system to be usable — it has to show that its measurements hold up to clinical scrutiny.
That is exactly what happened with Streamcheck. A clinical feasibility study examined whether key urological readings can be captured reliably in the home environment — carried out by experienced urologists and scientists from renowned German hospitals.

After scientific peer review, the results were published in the official journal of the German Society of Urology (DGU). Conducted under clinical conditions, independently assessed and published in a recognized specialist journal: that is the difference between a claim and evidence.

The study examined whether, at home, Streamcheck:
The study was conducted following ethics committee approval — the procedure and the protection of participants were independently reviewed beforehand.
100 %
of the recorded flow curves were rated clinically plausible.
Urine flow
Uroflowmetry — the measurement of urine flow — is considered one of the most important examinations for lower urinary tract symptoms under the guidelines of the urological societies EAU, ICI and AUA. In everyday practice it is nonetheless rarely performed, given the time and staff it requires.
In the study, participants performed this measurement themselves, at home. The recorded curves were then assessed by experienced urologists. The result: 100 percent of all measured flow curves were rated clinically plausible — with no relevant artifacts or irregularities. An examination that usually happens in the practice delivered, at home, a quality experienced urologists rated clinically plausible.
Biomarkers
Alongside urine flow, Streamcheck analyzes selected urinary biomarkers. Here, too, the system reached very high values.

The study authors particularly highlight sensitivity, specificity and the negative predictive value as markers of the system's reliability.
For the pH measurement, Streamcheck showed excellent agreement with the reference readings: the Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.99 — practically matching the lab measurement.
Acceptance
Precision is of little use if a system isn't adopted in everyday life. That is why user acceptance was examined as well.

The system
Streamcheck combines several established methods of basic urological diagnostics in one system for home use.
Measurement of urine flow.
The International Prostate Symptom Score captures lower urinary tract symptoms in a structured way.
Evaluation of relevant urinary values.
Your readings as a trend in the app.
Rule-based recommendations from your readings.
A structured report for your treating specialist.
The Streamcheck app evaluates your measurement data automatically and presents it clearly. When findings are abnormal, the automated evaluation recommends getting in touch with a physician or urologist. Repeatedly abnormal biomarkers — such as hematuria (blood in the urine) or proteinuria (protein in the urine) — lead to a recommendation for specialist assessment. The results are summarized in a structured medical report that you can make available to your doctor.
For you
The study proves two things that matter in everyday life.
What you measure at home reached, in the clinical evaluation, a quality a doctor can work with. You don't get a rough estimate, but reliable readings a doctor can interpret.
In the authors' assessment, Streamcheck reaches men in particular who feel healthy but already have abnormal values — bringing them to medical assessment earlier. Those with normal readings can avoid unnecessary doctor visits. The biggest advantage lies in long-term measurement: single readings become a trend that reveals changes a snapshot would miss.
The authors' conclusion
“The SC confirms itself as a reliable measurement method for home use with high patient satisfaction. The SC thus represents a promising digital addition to urological care.”
